We are definitely buying a new sofa. The process not only includes finding a nice new one, but also getting rid of the old one as the house already looks like a warehouse with too many items in it that we do not use. We already have a spare sofa, so that one has to go first. This morning I took pictures of it to post on the internet. An extensive investigation on the second hand sites revealed that we will not get much for it, but at least it should be possible to get rid of it without having to drive it to the garbage disposal station ourselves.

There used to be a time when video on demand was impossible. You would simply watch what was on tv and for the luckier people amongst us who were in the possession of a video recorder, there was the possibility to replay earlier recorded transmissions or even rent movies and play them at a convenient time. How different is it now. Either through a set top box connected to the cable provider or simply through an internet connected pc we have the option to see what we want at a time that is right for us.

Vanmorgen,met nog twee weken voordat de school weer begint,de kleding  van de kinderen gecontroleerd. En zoals na iedere zomer zijn ze weer flink gegroeid. Met in mijn achterhoofd de aanbiedingen van diverse winkels, bedacht ik om met de kinderen te gaan winkelen. Dit werd door de kinderen niet goed ontvangen; ze wilden thuisblijven en als we toch gingen dan wilden ze niet passen. Een half uur later stonden ze allebei in een pashokje terwijl ik de ene na de andere broek te voorschijn haalde om door hun te laten passen.Hun stemming veranderde al snel want er waren toch wel coole broeken bij. Blij liepen ze met hun tassen de winkel uit.

I switch on my television in my hotel room. I am very tired, it was a busy day with a lot of meetings. I don’t want to eat in a restaurant and I order some room service. There is nothing on the television and I see that I can also ask for video on demand. I see the lists of movies and I choose a movie. meanwhile my dinner arrived and I eat it on my bed while I watch the movie. After one hour I know I will fall asleep and I will wake up the next morning. The day that I have to catch my flight back home, after one week.
